Boree Creek Public School is a small school with fifteen students. Pupils between the ages of six and twelve study together in one class. As part of my CAD FACTORY Rural Residency Program, I am spending the next two days at this school, holding workshops – in hope to gain insight and understanding into life at a remote rural school, much like the Old Birrego School.
Vic and the students made music from the sounds which the school building and playground equipment make, tapping and scraping and making their school a musical instrument. The students and I photographed each other and drew pictures in sequences to make animation about them and their school.
I begin to wonder about my own childhood school memories. What I remember and what I have learnt. What I have forgotten and what I have tried to unlearn.
